Playing

How does my child play?

Press the big Play button. Tonmi plays a piano chord, then the flags pop up. Your child taps the flag whose color matches the sound. Right answers bring balloons to pop; at the end of a session there is confetti and a sticker to choose.

There is no text on any child screen, so a two-year-old can play alone once you press Play. If your child does not tap for a while, a small hand appears and the chord plays again.

How long is a session, and how many per day?

A session is a handful of questions — about two minutes. The Eguchi method works best as several short sessions spread across the day rather than one long sitting; Tonmi suggests five sessions a day, and the ring on the home screen counts today's sessions.

With the free plan your child can play one session every day. Tonmi Plus removes that limit.

What is the "sessions per sitting" limit?

In the parent corner you can decide how many sessions fit in one sitting (for example two). When they are done, Tonmi falls asleep and the Play button rests until the chosen break has passed — or until a grown-up wakes Tonmi from the home screen.

When does a new color appear?

Tonmi starts with two colors and adds the next one when your child has answered the recent questions accurately over a couple of sessions. In the parent corner you can choose a careful pace, a faster pace, or set the number of colors by hand.

The parent corner

Why does the app ask me a math question?

Everything a child should not touch — settings, purchases, links to the outside — sits behind a parent gate that asks a multiplication question. Type the answer with the keypad. Once solved, the gate stays open for ten minutes; it locks again when you press Play or leave the app.

Where is the parent corner?

On the home screen, press and hold the small button in the bottom-right corner for a second, answer the question, and the parent corner opens: play limits, colors and progression, questions per session, daily goal, subscription, and reset options.

Tonmi Plus

What is included in Tonmi Plus?

Unlimited sessions every day, for every child in your family. Plus is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase, and it works with Family Sharing.

The game itself, all colors, the sticker book, the parent corner, and iCloud sync are available on the free plan too; the free plan is limited to one session a day.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not inside the app. Open Manage subscriptions (or Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your device), choose Tonmi, and cancel or switch plans. A cancelled subscription stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

I already paid, but the app says I am on the free plan.

Open the parent corner, go to Subscription, and tap Restore purchases. Make sure the device is signed in with the same Apple ID that made the purchase (or a member of the same Family Sharing group). If it still does not work, write to hello@tonmi.app.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are decided by Apple. Open Request a refund from Apple, sign in, and select the Tonmi purchase.

Devices and iCloud

Which devices does Tonmi run on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17.4 or later. The app plays in portrait orientation.

Does progress carry over to my other iPhone or iPad?

Yes. When both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account, progress, stickers, and settings sync automatically through iCloud. Give it a minute after opening the app on the second device. Nothing is synced to us — see the Privacy Policy.

Can two children use the same device?

Not yet — Tonmi keeps one progress per Apple ID. If you would like separate profiles, tell us at hello@tonmi.app; it helps us decide what to build next.

Sound

I hear no sound.

Turn the volume up with the side buttons while the app is open. Tonmi plays even when the silent switch is on. If a Bluetooth speaker or headphones are connected, the sound goes there. If it still stays silent, close the app fully and open it again.

Can I change the sounds or the instrument?

No. The chords are real piano recordings whose pitch we verified, and the method relies on children hearing the same instrument every day.

Resetting

How do I start over?

Parent corner › Reset progress. You can reset only the statistics, only the stickers and session counts, or everything. A reset also clears the iCloud copy.
