A musician's ear is built in childhood.
Perfect pitch is the ability to hear a note and name it instantly. Only about 1 in 10,000 adults has it, but young children can learn it. Tonmi turns the practice into a short daily game: your child hears a piano chord, finds its color, and celebrates.

A real piano recording, one color at a time. The flags come down while your child listens.

The flags pop up as soon as the chord plays. They're big and easy to tap, even for small fingers.

Every right answer brings balloons to pop. Each session ends with confetti and a sticker to pick.
Your child doesn't need to read to match sounds and colors. Play together the first few times, show how it works, and stay close in case they need help.
The method
The Eguchi method, as a game
Tonmi follows the first stage of the Eguchi method, taught in Japan for over 30 years: nine piano chords, each with its own color, added one at a time as the earlier ones settle in. In a published study of the method, every child who completed the training gained perfect pitch. The children started between the ages of 2 and 6. The skill is easiest to pick up in early childhood and gets harder with age, but older children are welcome too.
Tonmi covers stage one: the nine white-key chords. The black-key chords and single-note stages are not included yet. The study followed a longer, teacher-led program, and Tonmi itself has not been independently tested. Results depend on regular practice and on the child, and no app can guarantee perfect pitch.
